Accessibility
It is our aim to make our web site available
to as many people as possible. Once someone has
followed a link to our site we hope they are able
to find the answers to their questions quickly
or browse around the site with ease. With this
in mind we have tried to keep the design of the
site very simple and to follow some simple guidelines.
Our site does not use frames or flash, to prevent
user restriction. On the rare occasion that pop
up windows may be present, we give warnings. All
our images are provided with appropriate ALT tags,
to serve as a text alternative to images when
required which can be read by screen readers.
To view the site without images, in Internet
Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options >
Advanced > in the Multimedia section, remove
the tick next to 'Show Pictures' > Click 'Apply'
> Click 'OK'.
We have strived to make this site accessible
to those who may be visually impaired or rely
on screen readers to access the site by using
relative font sizes
Increasing Font Size in Internet Explorer
To increase the size of the text on screen go
to the 'View' tab of Internet Explorer and choose
'Text Size' then choose Larger or Largest .
Increasing Font Size in Firefox
In the Firefox browser follow the same procedure
by going to 'View' tab and choosing 'Text Size'
then click on the 'Increase' option. You can
also use the keyboard shortcut by holding down
the Ctrl and + keys at the same time.
It is also possible to turn off the 'style sheets'
that define the layout of these web pages in both
Internet Explorer and Firefox, though as the text
is scalable on this site there should be no reason
to do so.
In Internet Explorer go to 'Tools' then 'Internet
Options'. A menu will appear with several tabs.
On the first tab named 'General' there is a button
to the very bottom right named 'Accessibility'
- click on this and it will open up another menu
called 'Accessibility'. To turn off all the styling
associated with the web site tick the boxes on
this menu that turn off colours, text size and
font style.
In Firefox the process is much easier. Go to
the 'View' tab of Firefox and choose 'Page Style'
then choose 'No Style'.
This site has been designed to be viewable at
all screen resolutions, without sideways scrolling,
although it is best viewed at a resolution of
800x600 or 1024x768 pixels. It can be viewed by
all browsers, but we recommend version 4 onwards
of Internet Explorer. |
