Appointments
Who do I see?
There are a number of different
types of clinical staff available at this practice
and we appreciate it is not always clear who does
what and when you need to see whom. We will always
do our best to provide you with a GP appointment
if that is what you want but during busy times,
you may find it quicker/easier to get an appointment
with one of our nursing team. Or if the patient
requires advice, there are a number of telephone
consultation slots available each day, click
here for more information.
How to make an appointment
About half of our GP appointments
are released ‘on the day’. With all
of our ‘on the day’ appointments the
earlier you contact the practice the greater the
choice of GP or nurse you will have. Lines are
open at 8.30 am each day. The majority of practice nurse appointments
are pre-bookable although there are a small number
of appointments released ‘on the day’.

Type of appointments
As stated above, about half
of our GP appointments are released ‘on
the day’. Apart from ‘on the day’
appointments we also have prebookable appointments
to see a GP. Other than Thursday evenings and Saturday morning appointments (which are currently available to book up to 2 weeks in advance), they are either available 1 working day in advance
or can be booked at any time.
The practice nurses specialise
in looking after patients who have been diagnosed
with long term conditions (e.g. diabetes, high
blood pressure, asthma etc). They can also provide
family planning and contraception services, immunisations
and travel vaccinations and can deal with many
general health questions and minor ailments.
How many appointments are available
and how long is each appointment?
Each doctor has 30
appointments available on a full day. This will differ
however with the duty doctor as they are on call
and maybe called out on an emergency. The duty
doctor has approximately 25-30 appointments available
each day. Each appointment is 10 minutes per session
but some of the doctors also have specialised
appointments, such as minor surgery and these
appointments are approximately 20 minutes.
Practice Nurse
Appointments & clinics
The majority of appointments
are booked in advance and not all nurses are trained to be able to manage all condictions. Some of the specialised
clinics (e.g. anticoagulation) are only available after discussion with the nurse or doctor. There are a small number of appointment
available ‘on the day’ to see a practice
nurse.
How to cancel an appointment
If you wish to cancel an appointment
then please telephone the practice as soon as
you are aware the appointment is no longer needed
as there may be another patient who may need to
see a GP. Click here for
practice telephone number. The practice currently
loses an average of 35 appointment slots per week
because patients did not attend and did not notify
us. We are keen to reduce this. Watch out for
regular updates on this figure on the waiting
room notice boards or click

and development section |
