GP Telephone Consultations
A number of telephone consultation
slots are available each day for patients to speak
with GPs if they do
not need a face–to-face consultation (e.g. to
discuss results, medications, problems or advice). Please understand that our receptionists will ask you what your call is about so they can let the doctor know in advance. Some conditions (e.g rash) may not be suitable for a telephone consultation and you may be advised that you need to make an appointment to come in and see your GP.
How to book a Telephone Consultation
The majority of our telephone
consultations can be prebooked.
To book a slot, please ring the surgery appointment
line on 01928 566561 and ask for a telephone consultation.
Lines are open at 8.30am Monday to Friday.
** If you have the 'Anonymous Call Barring' facility active on your phone, please ensure you TURN IT OFF that day - otherwise the doctor will NOT be able to get through to you. **
How many consultations are
available and how long is each consultation?
There are up to 4
telephone consultations available per doctor
each day and they are taken fairly
quickly so the earlier you can ring the better
chance you have of speaking to your GP. Each consultation is 5 minutes per
call.
How to cancel a Telephone Consultation
If you wish to cancel a telephone
consultation then please telephone the practice
as soon as you are aware the consultation is no
longer needed as there may be another patient
who needs to speak to a GP. You can call either the main Practice telephone number (01928 566561) if you want to rearrange your appointment or our messaging service (01928 562049) if you just want to cancel the appointment and do not need to speak to a receptionist.
When will the doctor call me?
The doctor will usually call you back as near to your appointment time as possible. However, sometimes, the doctor is held up in surgery and may not be able to call you until later. If you are in any doubt, please call back and ask the Receptionist for further details.
What happens if I have to go out?
If you are out when the doctor calls you he/she may leave a message but usually they will not (or can not if you do not have a messaging service) and you will lose your appointment slot. If you have to go out before the doctor calls you, please ring and let Reception know.
